African Stars Football Club (FC) has beaten its 15 Premier League clubs to secure a place in the Dr Hage Geingob Cup to be staged next weekend here in the capital.
Stars joins Premier League champion, Tigers FC both teams will lock horns in the first fixture of the competition on 05 August while the South African-based clubs Orlando Pirates and Premier Soccer L eague (PSL) champions Sundowns who are also the Dr Hage
Geingob Cup defending champions will sweat it out the same day.
The two local teams will automatically pocket a whopping N$ 400 000 as appearance fee.
The Short Message Send (SMSes) competition which determined the winning team to join
Tigers FC saw the blue-red and white outfit from Katutura beating the University of Namibia (Unam) team in second place and Black Africa in third place, respectively.
Also on the same venue, the national under-17 team will play their counterpart from Congo, Brazzaville in the African Nations Cup qualifiers.
Football fans will have to fork out mere N$ 20 or N$ 40 for all the games. The first game kicks off at 14H00 while the second match is billed for 16H00.
The final is scheduled for 16H00 on the 06 August.
