NIP is the largest clinical pathology organisation in Namibia. Through our network of 40 medical laboratories and four patient service centres (specimen collection sites), we offer a broad range of clinical laboratory tests that are used by healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases.
Furthermore, in response to client requirements NIP has developed independent units with specialised testing capabilities for oncology, HIV, immuno-histochemistry, and HIV DNA PCR and viral load testing. In fulfilling the above, the Technical Department is supported by the quality assurance department.
All NIP laboratories provide medical laboratory services which include pre-analytics with the following sections:
Chemistry/Immuno Chemistry; Flow Cytometry
Molecular Diagnostics, and
NIP plays a crucial role in:
Study of blood cells;
Antibody antigen tests;
HIV and AIDS treatment programmes through Cluster of Differentiation 4 (CD4) testing; HIV treatment monitoring; and
Tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.
NIP also provides sponsorships to Namibians to attain specialised qualifications, for the benefit of our company and the country at large. The company has a common laboratory management and logistic platform to transport referral tests and test results. The company provides medical laboratory services to both the public and private healthcare sector, but mostly dominates volume and market share in the public healthcare sector. Other significant achievements of NIP over the last 14 years include the accreditation of some laboratories through the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) and Stepwise Laboratory Improvement Process Towards Accreditation (SLIPTA).
