THE official opposition party leader McHenry Venaani on Monday lashed out at the state broadcast for lack of airtime for his party’s events.
Briefing the media on the outcome of the DTA central committee meeting that took place on Saturday Venaani admitted that he was stunned by the lack of attention that the meeting had received.
“I am embarrassed by the NBC. We had a central committee meeting a month ago you were not there, we had a central committee meeting on Saturday this past weekend you did not come, and today you are arriving late at the event. I’m not going to repeat myself you are just going to start where others are.
“I am going to complain to your director general soon. Why should we pay you money? Nonsense,” he lambasted the two NBC journalists who arrived late at the event.
“NBC has become an institution that is fed by Nampa. Most of the news that they are airing are from Nampa. What is their role? They cannot claim they didn’t get the invitation, how did all of you get the invitation?” he questioned.
Information deputy minister Stanley Simataa urged Venaani to engage the NBC editorial board or the Minister of Information over his grievances.
“If they do it time and again, I urge honourable Venaani to engage NBC or the minister information on that particular issue,” he said.
