THE Chief Executive Officer of Helao Nafidi town council, Inga Iipinge is accused of being reluctant to approach the local magistrate’s court to swear in Lucia Nghililewanga into the local council.
Swapo Secretary General Nangolo Mbumba told Confidente that he directed Iipinge to approach the Magistrate’s Court earlier this month in order to have Nghililewanga sworn in after she was replaced with Esther Nghidimbwa during the 2015 elections at the town but she failed to oblige to his order.
“Call the region and find out. I have instructed the council to bring back Nghililewanga into the council and I am still waiting for them to do so. However the matter is now between the council and the magistrate to swear her (Nghililewanga) in,” said Mbumba.
Nghililewanga is an elected councillor of the Helao Nafidi Town Council; however she was excluded from the council because she is believed to have some personal differences with some regional Swapo heavyweights.
She is number two on the regional party list but she was swopped with Esther Nghidimbwa who was ‘dubiously’ brought back into the council to take the seat which was supposed to be allocated to Nghililewanga.
According to a source within the council, Iipinge is refusing to seek for a magistrate to conduct the swearing in of Nghililewanga because she not paying any attention to matter.
“It is now weeks that she is sitting on the matter and the files are gathering dust at her desk (sic). She was told by the Swapo politburo several times but she is just quiet. The authorities should hold her accountable for delaying everything in this regard,” said a source. Several attempts to get comments from Iipinge proved futile as her mobile phone went unanswered.
The Ohangwena Swapo party regional coordinator, Hafeni Hatutale on his part said that Nghililewanga was never removed from the council list because she was not elected to contest in the election at Helao Nafidi.
Governor Usko Nghaamwa said did not want to comment on the matter saying that all the party affairs in the region are handled by Hatutale.
“I am not aware of anything, please contact Hatutale,” he said.
Nghililewanga informed Confidente that she was yet to be briefed on the matter.
“I do not know if it is true or not because I was not informed of anything yet. I am still waiting to be informed on the matter if it is true,” she said.
