FNB Namibia, in association with the organisers of the 2016 Restaurant week, announced the winners of the restaurant week and congratulated Fork N Nice of Swakopmund and Crazy Mamas of Walvis Bay on their first prize wins.
In the Café/ Bistro category Krisjans Bistro won second place while La Brocante came third. Corner of 62nd in Windhoek and Daisho Sushi, also in Windhoek, were announced as second and third prize winners in the restaurant category respectively.
Madri Frewer, marketing manager of FNB Namibia said: “We are happy with the outcome and will endeavour to make it even bigger and better next year. The participation from the general public was amazing and the votes increased tremendously from last year. Our aim to raise awareness of the hospitality industry as a vital link in the tourism and business environment was spot on”. Frewer added that unfortunately the voting in the fine dining category was not sufficient for the establishments to qualify for a star rating on the FNB Restaurant week App and there were therefore no winners in that category. “Kubata and Mugg & Bean deserve special mention and received additional prizes. Both these restaurants were truly amazing with regard to interaction from their staff and enticing customers to vote. It was a pleasure to witness and they deserve our appreciation too”. Hayley Fortuin, owner of Crazy Mamas was overwhelmed with the news of having received first prize. “My aim was indeed to get Crazy Mamas to the level and standard that was engraved by the founders. It was not easy but I believe that our girl power makes us succeed. Our customers played a vital role in our achievements and I thank all of them”.
Fortuin said she would invest her winnings in the business and the staff of Crazy Mamas to ensure that good service, good food and training remain a priority.
