THE entries for the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) 2017 are as of last week officially open. The announcement was made by MTC chief human and corporate affairs officer Tim Ekandjo.
Speaking at the NAMAs 2016 live prize giving ceremony, Ekandjo said, “We excited to call for entries today, and they will be open until December 2, 2016.”
Artists are given 45 days to register for any genre categories except for the non-entry categories; Best Album of the Year, Best Producer, Lifetime Achievement Award, NAMA Special Award, Best Male and Female Artist of the Year, Best Newcomer of the Year, Best Group/Duo of the Year, which are always purely based on the judges’ decision.
NAMAs executive committee has this year started the entry process earlier than usual to allow more time for artists to enter, especially for those who are not based in the capital nor close to the awards offices in Windhoek.
Entry is free of charge, and artists can enter manually or electronically. Artists are urged to take note that; for manual entry, application forms must be accompanied by the following; copy of identity document, one image disc containing the individual/ bands’ image of album cover in high resolution sized between 500-1000 pixels high and wide not exceeding 1MB and two original copies of the album with its cover.
All recordings submitted for the Namibia Annual Music Awards must have been commercially released (in other words first made available for sale by a recognised retailer) in Namibia during the period December 1 2015 to November 30 2016 to qualify for entry. The written proof of release details for the entry period must be submitted together with the fully completed entry form.
Artists can either drop entries sealed in envelope at any NBC offices countrywide or at MTC Head Office in Windhoek.
