BASED in the northern town of Ongwediva, Niinyandu Seblon well known as Mbuku and Matheus Shipushu known as Fimbiko have taken the entertainment industry by storm with their own music and movie production firm called Msheka Family.
Mbuku and Fimbiko met up in 2014, and they formed Msheka Family, together with video production manager Ngqabutho Ndlovu known as Brother Edit.
Msheka Family Productions now manages Mbuku and Fimbiko who are both recording artists and actors at the same time. Apart from acting and singing Mbuku and Fimbiko also do business promotions and live performances.
Fimbiko the recording artist
Fimbiko who found fame in the local movie called Konalenale, debuted with his new album as recording artist titled Oshihakautu (potato) a week ago.
Fimbiko said he gave his album this peculiar name, because when a potato is cooked it can be easily eaten by anyone, so he is referring to his music which he says caters for everyone. Fimbiko said this album is there to encourage and enlighten people out there who are stranded in their life and see no way out, to know that nothing is difficult in life but that one just needs to try their best.
The album is packed with interesting songs such as 2 Omakuva, on which showcases his powerful singing voice and there is no doubt that his voice can carry any song. The album contains some mature and uplifting songs too.
The production and mastering of the vocals are on point because one can hardly discern any errors. This explains why it took him so long to come through to release an album.
Overall, Shihakautu delivers on the artistic end filled with catchy hooks, great melodies and is definitely radio friendly; and it’s definitely worth it, a must have.
Mbuku the recording artist
In 2012, Mbuku released his first single titled Okulya Kwandje, which translates to ‘music is the thing that can sustain me and my family’. After the popularity of the single, in the same year he released his first album also titled Okulya Kwandje album.
Mbuku’s latest album Inotulamo O’carry could be described as a sarcastic social commentary that is thought provoking, moralistic and didactic in nature; one meant for the season and everything that comes with it.
Mbuku is best known for his funny antics both on and off stage and Inotulamo O’carry is no different only that there is a marked distinction when both lyrics and instrumentation fuse in a calm, compact and composed manner—still offering no paradigm shift from his traditional satirical lyrics and danceable Kwiku beat.
In Iifindi which means dead tree trunk, Mbuku is urging people to start investing wisely and telling all school learners to take their education seriously.
Track 5 Eembashu meaning shacks, in this song Mbuku is highlighting the hardships the people living in the informal settlements of Windhoek go through each and every day.
Inspiring is how Mbuku sings about real life issues such as crime and discouraging illegal practices.
Fimbiko and Mbuku the actors
After being featured in various Oshiwambo comedies as a supporting actor such Konalenale and Telekeshe Yatashwa, this time around Fimbiko is going it alone.
In his latest Oshiwambo comedy movie Fimbiko oka Ngungumani, he is the director and lead actor with Mbuku as the supporting actor. He is playing the role of a mistreated young man by the family that adopted him in his early age.
Fimbiko Oka Ngungumani part 1 tells the story of this young man’s risky journey in his quest to find his biological family and the hardships he faced during the journey. The young man’s journey continues in part 2, which is expected to be out soon.
All of these masterpieces are available at all music shops in the country at the price of N$120 each or one can contact Mbuku: +264813229092 Fimbiko: +264817167355.
