A grade three pupil at Twapandula Junior Primary School was allegedly raped by an uncle on numerous occasions at King Kauluma village in Oshikoto region.
According to Oshikoto’s regional crime investigation coordinator Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua, it is alleged that Wilson Haiduwa (44) would usually call the victim to bring him food into his sleeping room and would then sexually assault her on several occasions.
“It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim under coercive circumstances in his room,” said Katjiua.
Haiduwa was expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
In another separate incident, another minor was allegedly raped by a boy believed to be a neighbour at the victim’s residence.
The incident happened at between 15h00 to 16h00 on Saturday at Kuvukiland informal location in Tsumeb.
According to Katjiua, the victim who is aged 16 and a grade 10 pupil at
Tsumeb secondary school was intoxicated when the incident took place.
The suspect, only known as Tangeni is yet to be arrested while a police investigation into the matter continues.
In a separate matter, a case of reckless and negligent driving was reported at Engoyi village on the Ondangwa/ Omuthiya main road, 40km from Ondangwa.
It is alleged that the driver of a white Toyota pickup belonging to the Ministry of Works, (Omuthiya office) while travelling from Ondangwa to Omuthiya,
lost control of the car swerving off the road.
Katjiua said that the driver bumped into two cuca shops and injured a person who was inside one of the cuca shops.
Vistorina Nelago Bamm (32), who was injured inside one of the cuca shops, was admitted at Onandjokwe Hospital and is reportedly in a stable condition.
The driver, Salomon Shikongo (28) and one of the passengers, Jackson Kayoko (19) both sustained minor injuries and were transported to Onandjokwe Hospital for medical check-ups.
