THE Namibia Student Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) will optimise all of its business through the new Loan and Grant Application Management Information system (LGAMIS) for the 2017 application process.
This was disclosed by NSFAF chief human capital and corporate affairs Olavi Hamwele at the 2017 official launch of the online application process in Windhoek last week.
Hamwele said NSFAF’s mandate is to provide financial assistance to eligible students and the manual application process journey that entails information sharing with all grade 10-12 students is costly as it requires N$250 000 for 55 000 applications to be produced.
“The problems in the past were delays, errors, unnecessary workload and frustration due to massive manual processing. The newly established LGAMIS is the most efficient, seamlessly integrated, fully automated application and collaboration platform that will provide the best possible service to students and our stakeholders. This will further reduce the workload of the NSFAF team,” he said.
Hamwele added that the 48 turnaround processes for the 2017 intake application period are divided according to three study categories; the undergraduate-local application commencing on January 12 ending March 31 2017; the Undergraduate-SADC/International that will run from December 15 2016 up to March 31 2017 and the last study category which is the Postgraduate-local, SADC/International that commenced last week and it will be ending March 31 next year.
The application process information is available on the NSFAF website, regional offices, and NSFAF Facebook page. According to Hamwele information on the application process can be further accessed from the 15 NSFAF mobile teams covering the country.
Hamwele concluded that there will be a seamless integration to institutions of higher learning such as University of Namibia (UNAM), International University of Management (IUM) and Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) with the Bi-Directional LGAMIS on to these institutions’ interface.
