Namibian pugilist, Vikapita ‘Beastmaster’ Meroro left for Johannesburg, South Africa for a much anticipated blood and sweat bout against Kevin Lerena in an international cruiserweight clash on Saturday.
The scheduled fight will take place at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, and is promoted by Golden Gloves Promotions.
Local promoter Nestor Tobias said in a press release that: “Meroro goes into the fight with a respectable record of 33 fights, 28 wins and 5 losses. He however comes into the fight with a previous loss against the highly rated Dmitry Kudryashov, and the fight therefore gives him a perfect opportunity to get his career back on track.”
Meroro would have to overcome a man who just won the Africa Cruiserweight Super 6 boxing championship in South Africa. Lerena has a record of 17 fights, 16 wins and only one loss, and is promoted by Golden Gloves Promotions.
“I expect a very tough fight from Lerena, he is in-form and highly motivated, I go into this fight as an underdog which takes a lot of pressure off me, but I want to surprise him and steal the fight when he least expect it, said Meroro.”
The fight will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
