OPPORTUNITIES keep knocking for southern Africa best female artist and Namibian songstress Sally Boss Madam as continent’s top musicians are eager to work with the ‘Natural’ hitmaker.
This time around it is high-flying Zimbabwean contemporary musician Jah Prayzah that is set for a single project with Sally. He has recently done high-riding collabos with famous African musicians like Diamond Platinumz and Mafikizolo.
Confirming the latest development from Harare, Mukudzeyi Mukombe, who performs under the name Jah Prayzah -a play on his first name which means Praise God-, disclosed to Confidente Entertainment that his camp has contacted Sally’s crew and they are currently at the earliest stage of the song making process.
“We are going to work on a love song. So far I have sent her the instrumentals and whenever she is done with the recording and writing she will send it back to me. I adore her energy, she is energetic just like me, and that gives us something in common in terms of our artistic point of view. We are still at the earlier stage, which is recording and at the moment we don’t have any deadline because we want to ensure that we have a well-polished product at the end,” said Jah Prayzah, who won MTV Africa Music Award (MAMAs) Listeners’ Choice Award held in Johannesburg last October.
The 29 year-old ‘Mudhara Achauya’ hitmaker further added that he would love to shoot the music in Namibia after they are done with recording the song.
“I have never been to Namibia but I heard of stories about the beauty of the country … the sea, the desert and camels in Namibia and I want to come and experience all those things.”
Born in Uzumba-Maramba- Pfungwe in Mashonaland East Province, Jah Prayzah’s first experience with composing music was during his early years of high school. He started to record dancehall and reggae tracks with his friends with some tracks creating a vibe in the suburb, but failing to hit the national music scene. He later recorded contemporary music and afro jazz tracks with South African actress, radio, television host and the first ever African brand ambassador for Nivea DJ Thando and other local producers, releasing singles such as ‘Sorry Mama’ and ‘Seiko’.
In 2013 he released his fourth album Tsviriyo which won him a National Arts Music Awards (NAMAs) prize for song of the Year for the song ‘Gochi Gochi.’
In 2014 Jah Prayzah who is popularly referred to by fans as ‘Musoja’ released Kumbumura Mhute. In the same year he won five NAMA awards and two Zimbabwe Music Awards prizes.
In 2015 he opened a new studio and released his sixth studio album, Jerusarema. According to Wikipedia his most notable recent work was a collaboration with award-winning Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz on his hit song ‘Watora Mari’, which reached over a million views on YouTube in less than a month after its release. The collabo has enjoyed massive airplay on MTV Base and Trace Africa. However, the other song, ‘Mudhara Vachauya’ is the one being enjoyed in Zimbabwe.
Sally popularly known as Boss Madam was crowned queen of music in southern Africa scooping the Southern Africa Best female artist category at a colourful All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria last November.
Apart from that, Sally has been enjoying continental recognition with her hit songs ‘Natural’ and ‘Bim Bim’ which features songs have been enjoying major airSouth African singer Busiswa. Both play on the recently-launched Trace Africa music channel on DStv, with ‘Natural’ going to the number one spot on the channel’s countdown.
“It is true we are working on a song but we are still at the early stage. We are all open minded people, his people called my people and all what we had to do was to familiarise with him. This was an easy decision to make people since we have the same goals. This is going to be an exchange of skills and exposure that is what music collaboration is all about.
“I am pretty sure, we will definitely work on the video after the song is done, but we are yet to decide on the place where we are going to shoot it and off course we will be doing some travelling here and there,” concluded Sally.
