LOCAL rock enthusiasts will be in for a treat when South African Ann Jangle, supported by Riaan Smit, will perform her unique style of music at the Warehouse Theatre in the Friday.
Referred to as the queen of the underground, Jangle brings an ominous style of dark folk, eclectic rock, gypsy infused theatrical, soulful style of writing and performing that leaves a long-lasting impression into her audience. Having been belting out her voice on stage like she was born there, this South-African born singer/ songwriter/ producer/ composer has performed her way onto a vast variety of stages across Europe and southern Africa and shares the stage with many different artists to bring a heartfelt performance that resonates.
Jangle’s first album ‘Acoustic Archive’ and second album ‘Kicking Sawdust’ were both applauded amongst critics and the public. Teaming up with Riaan Smit on harmonica and guitar for this Blues/ Rock concert in Windhoek, Jangle will have fans follow her every word with her hauntingly beautiful singing. It’s an evening of story-telling, creating mesmerising music, all gypsy-infused.
Smit sings from the depths of his soul and has mastered the art of expression in music, his styles range across the board with an affinity for blues and gypsy music. He has travelled and toured across the globe learning the language of music through collaborating with artists wherever ever he goes.
Namibian-born and based in South Africa he has entertained audiences far and wide with his show band Crimson House, and toured the world with his touring act the Brothers Remedy. A naturally gifted multi-instrumentalist, Smit finds expression in guitar, harmonica, percussion, bass, and a baritone voice that can scream or tell a sweet soft story.
