OLTHAVER and List Leisure and lodges, a subsidiary of Ohlthaver and List Group, is bringing fashion and fun to the coastal town of Swakopmund with its upcoming fashion show. Themed, ‘Fashion show with a heart’, the event which will be held at Strand Hotel on February 25, and will present a variety of fashion designers including Angola-based Namibian designer Easter Leah Manasse who is the founder of Coal, a clothing brand dedicated to modern, bold, sophisticated and structured women and men’s ready to wear with a touch of tailoring in almost every piece that started operating in 2015. Tanzanian designer who owns a tailoring business in Dar es Salaam, Rosalinda Nkya will be showcasing her Lindalicious Africa Designs. From the local scene, Swakopmund-born designer Nicoleen Menjono from Damage clothing label, Vintage Rose Boutique owner Christel-Ann Rautenbach from Walvis Bay, Beaulah Basson who will be showcasing shoes, and makeup and hair artist Flora Miranda, will also be in attendance. Speaking to Confidente Entertainment, Strand Hotel Swakopmund Banqueting and Conference manager Lucia Muteka said,” As part of O&L Leisure we have a social responsibility of giving back to the community. The Strand Hotel Swakopmund Fashion show with a Heart is a way for us to do just that. We have on board fashion designers who are also doing their part for charity we have the likes of Easter Manasse, Nicoleen Menjono as well as Roselinda Nkya who will be showcasing their designs. “We also have Christel-Ann Rautenbach who will be showcasing wedding dresses sold at her boutique and Beaulah Basson who will be showcasing heels sold at her boutique called Zurich. We also have something completely unique never done before as Air Namibia one of our sponsors will be opening up our stage with their cabin crew showcasing their uniforms. For the same event jeweller Milanda will be showcasing their jewellery as well.” According to the organisers this event will become a yearly fundraising show, and capital raised will be donated to the Tears of Hope Orphanage in Mondesa, Swakopmund currently housing more than 20 orphans and vulnerable children. Rauntenbach said she is honoured to be part of one of biggest fashion events in the country. “It is a great marketing opportunity for my business which just started operating seven months ago. “For this event my showcasing will be classy and elegant. Plus size designs are part of my new collection as well. It’s a good opportunity for me because Swakopmund is my hometown and the fact that it is a charity event makes me excited,” said Necoleen Menjono who showcased at the Windhoek Fashion Week last year. Flora Milanda from Floty Beauty Parlour Boutique in Swakopmund will be showcasing her products for the first time ever and she sees this as an opportunity that will open many doors for her. The event is on February 25 and tickets are going for N$350 standard and N$750 VIP. Tickets can be purchased at the Strand Hotel. Entertainment for the show will be provided by Zelda Lourens from Evolve Fire and Entertainment, a Swakopmund-based company that offers fire performances at corporate events.
