THE Namsov Fishing Enterprises bequeathed learning equipment at a value of N$120 000 to five schools from Oshikoto and Ohangwena region.
The schools received equipment such as digital printers, chalkboards, computers and a projector, and fencing material.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Ondangwa last Friday, Namsov chief sustainability officer Tuna Willem said, “We are here to further invest towards the development of education in Namibia, namely to support Namibian schools, students and learners in achieving critical qualifications and or skills to realise their life’s potential.
“We recognise and participate in the delivery of economic and social value to Namibia and its people as a daily way of doing business. As a key player in Namibia’s private sector, we actively seek to complement not only Government’s quest in delivering essential services but also, work to partner with those that are helping others and the community itself. The Governors Regional Development Programme amongst others bears testimony to that partnership philosophy whereby we allocate funds yearly to the regions which in turn are invested to contribute towards the development of our communities specifically at grassroots level,’’ said Willem.
Vice President Dr. Nickey Iyambo present at the handover stated, “I am happy to announce that Namsov/Bidvest has made donations of N$24 000 each to Onamavo Combined School, Ondumetana Primary School, Uukuma Combined School, Engoyi Primary School and Eenyama Combined School.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Namsov on my behalf and of the beneficiary schools, for the kind assistance in cash and in kind such as school equipment, buildings, electricity, clean water and so forth. In conclusion, I urge the Principals, teachers, learners and parents of the beneficiary schools to put these donations to good use. “
