GROWING up in Windhoek, Edundja-born kwaito newcomer Fillipus Joseph who goes by the stage name D-Kandjafa, idolised legends such as Exit and Mushe, and today he is not only ready to follow in their footsteps but to conquer the airwaves.
The rising star whose singles Kam’ Kwanyoka and Kavena Shivatya from his debut album Munene is Kwaad recently launched in Windhoek says fans are yet to see the best of him.
His vocal ability and live performances are passion filled as if to convince himself that he was destined to be a first class entertainer. Since he started in a band back in 2007, D-Kandjafa has grown in confidence and now feels he is ready to take over the music scene. “I know there are numerous challenges now more than there were some years back with the shifting of focus to some new sounds which seem to be diverting fans’ attention from kwaito music, but I believe I can prevail,” he said.
D-Kandjafa’s solo career kicked off in 2016 with his new record label 5237 music production. “Me being solo as an artist means commitment and dedication to my work. Everything will happen on time because there will be no procrastination.
“This new album further serves as an introduction of D-Kandjafa as musician talking about my experience in life and my music. It is filled with words of courage and it is educational to my fans. In music I am guaranteed a better future because it keeps me away from pointless activities that can harm my life”.
