POWERHOUSE Family Fellowship and Fatherhood Foundation will next month host the annual ‘Save the Family’ conference, an initiative brought about by the two religious organisations. This year’s theme is ‘Let’s Talk’, and the conference is scheduled to take place from April 6–8 in Windhoek at Nampower Convention Centre for morning sessions, and at Eros Primary for evening sessions.
“Namibia is currently facing high incidents of gender-based violence, single parent homes, child-headed households, disillusioned and violent youth as well as many other societal problems stemming directly from a breakdown of the family structure and family values. As such, Powerhouse Family Fellowship and the Fatherhood Foundation are hosting a two-day conference that will offer powerful insights, experiences and introduce strategies for families struggling with a broad range of real challenges including divorce, parenting, finances, and social media,” said Powerhouse Family Fellowship spokesperson, Edmund Khoaseb.
This year’s conference will bring together local and international speakers like Simon Witbooi (a.k.a HemelBesem), who is an Akrikaans rapper, comedian, TV and radio personality, and ATKV ambassador. He will also be launching his latest book titled; God Praat Afrikaans.
Witbooi will be joined by local speakers including, Carven Izaks (Fatherhood Foundation), Mike Amey (Experience Koi Namibia), and Cas Becker (Agape Windhoek) – who will delve into relevant topics that will bring reconciliation to families and communities, focusing on the theme, ‘Let’s Talk’.
Some of the topics to be tackled include: How to create an atmosphere of family, Building healthy relationships, marriage and Singles Talk, Finding healing from broken relationships (divorce, separation and hurt in family), Finances: an open talk and Staying connected in a world of social media. The conference will then end with an open air movie under the stars.
“We are proud to be associated with this great initiative, as we have seen so many lives changed over the years the conference has been held. As a Foundation we believe that fatherlessness is the root of the social ills we see today, and we want to make a change. I think this conference is a great start in the long process of societal transformation,” Fatherhood Foundation director, Carven Izaks, said.
