In our previous edition we published a story that Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Group (AFECC) was the same company in Kenya constructing a new passenger terminal for the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which was said to vary by nearly N$1.2 billion which led to the Kenyan Airports Authority (KAA) suspending four of its senior managers, including its managing director to pave way for an investigation. Confidente has since learnt that the company in Kenya is not AFECC but another company Anhui Construction Engineering Group that bares almost a similar name as AFECC. Confidente sincerely apologises for the error made.
According to AFECC officials the company is a large-scale international enterprise which is engaged in large infrastructure development projects in more than 40 countries and has all the time been listed as one of The Top ENR 225 International Contractors. Meanwhile, by sticking to the spirit of “Based in Africa, Developing Africa, Rewarding Africa,” AFECC has invested 15 five star hotels and many large scale supermarkets in Africa in which way brings a lot of employment opportunity to the local people. Besides, we have continuously organised a series of “Brightness Action” in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and other African countries and cured thousands of patients with cataract for free. Such activities were highly praised by the governments and people of those countries. More than US$100 million has been spent on the various welfare and charity activities in Africa.
