OPTIMISTIC Media, a local entertainment company, will soon showcase a short film entitled ‘Short-Cut’ which will premiere on April 1 at FNCC in Windhoek.
With the Namibian film industry growing bigger, filmmakers are being encouraged to produce even more creative work. Optimistic Media is no newcomer to the film industry as they have produced numerous films such as Uushimba, My friend is my enemy and Okasikili, plus music videos for local artists.
Short-cut is a film that focuses on a story of crime activity and how it affects society. The movie portrays an act by two convicted criminals that have escaped temporary captivity and are trying to travel out of the city to avoid being recaptured by the authorities. They get themselves involved in various criminal activities to find a way to leave, but they unfortunately never make it out of the city.
“It is the first premiere of Short-Cut and there will be other premieres later on but we would like to encourage the public to be part of the first premiere and come in numbers to come watch local talent. Optimistic Media being a media and an entertainment company in both film and music wishes to express gratitude as this year both entertainment services that they produced were acknowledged and appreciated by awarding events,” said producer Gustav Nuuyoma.
Nuuyoma explained that Optimistic Media is working hard to push the entertainment industry to the top and help with nation building.
“Uushimba was nominated in various categories at this year’s National Theatre and Film Awards, which is indication enough that we are determined to produce quality work and make sure our work is recognised. In addition we have Kondja Lungameni aka Laukey signed under Optimistic Music. He is currently nominated in this year’s Namibian Annual Music Awards, and a win or lose Optimistic Media will keep producing more music and films,” he concluded.
