NATIONAL telecommunications companies from the Southern African development Community will converge in Namibia for the 30th edition of the inter-telecom games billed for Windhoek.
The teams from leading telecom companies in southern Africa, will come face-to-face in what is known as the BOLESWANASA Games.
A media release by Telecom Namibia Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations (PR), Oiva Angula said the exhilarating tournament will witness teams from Telecom Namibia, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Econet-Lesotho Telecom, Swazi Post and Telecommunications Corporation and Telkom South Africa battling in a variety of sporting codes.
Teams are expected to compete in athletics, football, volleyball, netball, darts, tug of war and pool to become the BOLESWANASA 2017 Champion.
The release said the games are dubbed “1 Spirit, 1 Team. Taking Charge of Change”, the tournament is aimed at bringing together professionals from the telecom sector to challenge each other in a sporting arena and serve as a platform to interact, foster cross-boundaries unity and enjoy the frolic activity along with their peers and families.
The two day fun-filled event scheduled at the Academia High School Sports Grounds, will offer attraction for the families and kids ranging from fun activities, entertainment and music.
The initial round matches will commence from 15th April, while the semi-final and final matches will lead to the closing ceremony on 16th April.
“Sports contribute towards development of healthy societies and Telecom Namibia remains at the forefront in organizing various sports events for its employees every year,” said Angula.
He said: “The 2017 BOLESWANASA Games present a unique opportunity for us to showcase the very best that Namibia has to offer as we host the 30th anniversary of the BOLESWANASA Games this Easter. Our staff are working very hard to provide an amazing experience for our visitors, and we look forward to welcoming one and all for the hottest Easter in a Quarter of a Century.”
All of the weekends’ events are open to the public and the media. Admission to the sports ground is free.
