PLANS are in full swing, as the Karibib Town Council and various stakeholders prepare to host the fourth Karibib and Travel Tourism Fair (KTTF).
The event is scheduled to take place from 31 May to 3 June, under the theme ‘A path towards economic growth’.
The event is one of many initiatives that council is undertaking to aggressively market the town of and its investment opportunities.
It also creates a platform for local businesses, corporates and small and medium enterprises, as well as farmers in and around the town, to showcase their products and services directly to residents and visitors.
The official launch of the event took place on 21 April, which coincided with a fundraising gala dinner, were over N$250 000 was raised through the sales of seats and pledges.
Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises, Engel Nawatiseb, who is also the patron of the fair, delivered the keynote address at the well-attended gala event.
Erongo Regional Council Chief Regional Officer, Natahalia /Goagoses, is the deputy patron.
In his address, Nawatiseb encouraged business people to be innovative and think outside the box.
“For example, Uber the world’s largest taxi company owns no vehicles. Airbnb has no physical facilities and owns no properties, and yet poses serious threats to traditional accommodation establishments. Now that is innovation by entrepreneurs,” Nawatiseb said.
Erongo Regional Council Chairperson, Hafeni Ndemula, urged corporate Namibia to invest today, for the bright future tomorrow.
Ndemula congratulated the Karibib Town Council and called the private and public sector to support the upcoming event.
The trade fair expected to attract over 120 corporate and SME exhibitors.
Among the activities planned are a Miss KTTF beauty pageant, exhibition stalls and product sampling for SMEs and corporates, as well as a business development seminar/conference, horse racing activities, a kids zone, a music concert, a food court and a beer garden.
