STANDARD Bank Namibia has commenced with the construction of its new N$650 million head office in Windhoek’s Kleine Kuppe suburb, near the Grove Mall of Namibia. Last week’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Minister of Presidential Affairs, Frans Kapofi, who represented President Hage Geingob. Also present was Standard Bank Group Chairman, Thulani Gcabashe, as well as Standard Bank Namibia Chairman, Herbert Maier, and the bank’s deputy chairman, Jerry Muadinohamba. The new four-star rated green building, being constructed in Chassie Street, next to the Pupkewitz Mega Centre, will accommodate all the bank’s operational departments in one building, ultimately enhancing its overall operations. It will comprise 10 500 square metres of office space, situated on four floors, as well as over 400 public and private parking bays.
In a speech read of his behalf by Kapofi, Geingob applauded the Standard Bank initiative.
“Despite the (current) headwinds, Namibia’s economic future is sound and stable, and the upcoming new Standard Bank head office is just one, amongst several indications, that speak to the economic development and the financial empowerment of our nation,” said Geingob.
