Minister President of the Free State of Thuringia, Bodo Ramelow, concluded a two-day visit to Namibia on 11 May.
He attended the Twelfth Lutheran World Federation Assembly (LWF) Assembly and had meetings with President Hage Geingob, Namibia’s Special Envoy on Genocide and Reparations, Dr Zed Ngavirue, and Minister of Rural and Urban Development, Sophia Shaningwa. He also visited a low-cost residential home, constructed by the Thuringian company, Polycare.
Ramelow also attended the reception hosted by Geingob, on the occasion of the opening of the LWF Assembly, where 32 musicians from Germany performed. Thuringia is the location of many places that played an important role during the Christian Reformation, spearheaded by Dr Martin Luther.
This includes Wartburg Castle, where Dr Luther translated the Bible into German. The Lutheran World Federation Assembly also celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.
