AHA Hotels & Lodges will take over the full management and marketing services for the Swakopmund Collection, effective from 1 July, aha Chief Executive Officer, Neil Bald, has confirmed.
The Swakopmund Collection is a privately owned hotel group that consists of popular coastal establishments like the Atlantic Villa, Beach Hotel Swakopmund and Swakopmund Plaza Hotel.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome the Swakopmund Collection to the aha family. This is the eighth African country we’re expanding into and is aha’s debut into Namibia, which is another positive step towards expanding our footprint in key locations within sub-Saharan Africa,” Bald said
An array of hotels and lodges throughout South Africa, including in Gauteng, the Western Cape, the Northern Cape, Free State, North West, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo, are managed by aha Hotels & Lodges, which it also has establishments in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Commenting on the deal, Peter Weichhart and Johan Kok, the co-owners of the Swakopmund Plaza Hotel and Beach Hotel Swakopmund, issued a joint statement expressing joy and optimism about the future.
“We are proud of this collaboration, which is due in great part to aha’s vision, development goals and achievements, which will prove equally beneficial to the establishments and our clients.
“We are proud to be associated with aha Hotels & Lodges. Their expertise in hotel management and marketing is well-known, and we look forward to their contribution to the properties’ further success,” the statement said.
The owner of Atlantic Villa, Gerhard van der Merwe, also expressed the same sentiments.
“This is a step in the right direction for our establishment. Namibia is a country with so much to offer, and Swakopmund is a vibrant town, offering easy access to explore the many attractions around the country. We are confident in aha’s ability to contribute towards our continued success,” Van der Merwe said.
The Swakopmund hotels are perfectly suited for leisure and business stays, offering a total of 147 rooms, with 320 beds in 12 room categories. Dining is an absolute pleasure at the Swakopmund Plaza’s Coffee Break Bistro, which specialises in international cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch and light meals.
The a la carte Anchor Point restaurant at the Beach Hotel Swakopmund presents breakfast and delectable meals, along with specially selected wines. The conference and event facilities at Atlantic Villa and the Swakopmund Plaza Hotel complete the property’s all-round service.
