FOLLOWING the resignation of previous Team Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Roberta de Costa, the board of the 14-year old member-based organisation has decided to engage Global Progressive Synergy cc to spearhead its operations.
In a statement released last week, Team Namibia highlighted that this move was based on implementing a solution that will ensure continuity in the management of the organisation, as well as consistency of strategy implementation and the reduction of costs.
Team Namibia was founded in 2003, with the vision of increasing the consumption of local products and services, while Global Progressive Synergy cc was established in 2009 by Bärbel Kirchner.
She will initially have hands-on involvement, as the part-time account director of Team Namibia.
To further ensure continuity, Global Progressive Synergy has appointed three staff members previously engaged by Team Namibia.
Now in its ninth year of operation, Global Progressive Synergy provides association and training management services.
Kirchner has also been the part-time consulting general manager of the Construction Industries Federation of Namibia since 2010.
She has eight years of tertiary education under her belt, in South Africa, Germany and the United Kingdom.
This includes a Bachelor’s Degree with Psychology as a major, a Master’s Degree in Marketing Management and a Master’s in Public Administration. She is also a trained personal and business coach.
For over 10 years, she worked for the government of Dubai, driving tourism and commerce to that country, through effective public relations and marketing initiatives.
As the director of Dubai’s overseas representative office in London, between 2002 and 2007, she headed up the office and was responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy of the world-renowned Dubai brand in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
“We are delighted to see the new drive and energy, and to have found a cost-effective solution, by appointing Global Progressive Synergy, to manage our organisation. This will ensure continuity, but also allow us to tap into very useful international marketing expertise,” said Team Namibia board chairperson, Pieter Greeff.
Kirchner said, “We are very excited about the enormous potential of Team Namibia, to encourage the consumption of local products and services, make a positive impact and to contribute to our local economy.
“We are committed to making a difference. This is particularly important during the current economic times.”
She said that Team Namibia’s slogan is, ‘Together, our future is brighter’, while Global Progressive Synergy’s slogan is, ‘Together, just be smarter!’.
“The thinking is thus very much aligned. We want everybody to realise how important it is for all of us to buy local products and services,” Kirchner added.
