ADVANTAGE Y&R, Namibia’s most awarded advertising agency, has put in an impressive showing at the 2017 Loeries Awards, held in Durban, South Africa.
Advantage Y&R won two Silver Loeries, one in the Indoor Posters category, for their ‘African Trash Masks’ created for Greenpeace Africa, and another in the Media Innovation category for its Commodity Exchange and YOLO condoms ‘Be Safe’ campaign.
‘African Trash Masks’ were a series of posters created as an anti-littering and recycling campaign.
‘Be Safe’ used giant condoms placed on termite mounds along the road to the Namibian coast, to provide both high-impact advertising for the new YOLO condom brand, and an innovative platform for public health messaging.
Advantage Y&R were Namibia’s sole representative at the Loeries, and picked up seven finalist nominations overall. The two Silver trophies represented an improvement from 2016, where they won one Silver and one Bronze for their #DontWashMeNAM water-saving campaign.
“We’re thrilled to see Namibian work represented on the same stage as bigger-budget South African and Middle East campaigns – being there not just to make up the numbers, but to actually win, which is an incredible feeling,” said Advantage Y&R Creative Director, Toufic Beyhum.
The Loeries are Africa and the Middle East’s premiere initiative to recognise, reward, inspire and foster creative excellence in the brand communication industry.
