THE Chevening Secretariat is accepting applications for government scholarships, to study in the United Kingdom during 2018/19 academic year.
Applications for the Chevening scholarships are between 7 August and 7 November, with applications to be submitted via www.chevening.org/apply.
Namibia will be able to send around ten scholars. Two of these scholarships will be offered jointly by Chevening and the Petroleum Training and Education Fund (Petrofund).
Chevening scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential, who also have strong academic backgrounds.
The scholarships offer full financial support for future leaders, to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university, whilst gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional and cultural events. There are more than 1 500 scholarships on offer globally for the 2018/19 academic year, representing a significant investment from the UK government towards developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Jo Lomas, UK High Commissioner to Namibia, said,
“This is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the Namibia-UK educational links and to offer Namibia’s future leaders a boost to their CVs. The Namibian Chevening alumni are a bunch of bright, thoughtful and energetic people, who are determined to use their studies to make a difference in Namibia.
“Becoming a part of the Chevening network instils a strong sense of pride and responsibility. I’ve personally seen how this opportunity is able to transform lives. I encourage many more Namibians to take the chance to study at some of the world’s best universities.”
The call for new applicants follows the selection of 10 scholars from Namibia, who won scholarship awards to study at a UK university this year. One scholar is jointly funded by Chevening and Petrofund. The scholars will depart for the UK at the end of this month or early in September.
