PRESIDENT Hage Geingob will travel to Luanda tomorrow to attend the inauguration of Angolan president-elect João Lourenço.
Founding President Sam Nujoma has also been invited to the State ceremony.
Presidential spokesperson Albertus Aochamub said that Geingob will be accompanied by First Lady, Monica Geingos, and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Aochamub said that Namibia and Angola enjoy excellent bilateral and historic relations, which are further cemented by continued high-level visits and exchanges.
“The Republic of Angola held its general elections on 23 August. The MPLA won the elections and Honourable João Manuel Concalves Lourenço, who is the former Minister of Defence, will be sworn in as the third president of the Republic of Angola on 26 September. The vice-president-elect is Bornito de Sousa Baltazar Diogo,” Aochamub said in statement.
Geingob will return to Namibia tomorrow evening and is expected to have courtesy meetings with both the outgoing President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, as well as the incoming president.
