… Offenders note fatherlessness, low self-esteem among reasons for offences

AT least 926 Namibians have been incarcerated for violent crimes such as murder, rape, culpable homicide, assault with intent to do grievous bodily (GBH) harm and robbery with aggravating circumstances, which highlights the seriousness of the violence dogging the country.
The latest statistics obtained from the Namibia Correctional Services and presented at the #BreakFree campaign, led by the Office of the First Lady recently, shows that of the 926 perpetrators, 367 were convicted for assault GBH, 231 for rape, 186 for murder, 98 for robbery with aggravating circumstances and 44 for culpable homicide.
