… And African youth lessons from Sochi

THE thrill of travelling outside the country always turns me into a five-year-old about to open a Christmas gift, especially when this entails jetting off to another continent.
My recent mission to the Olympic City of Sochi, on the banks of the Black Sea in Russia, was no exception, where I formed part of a delegation of 170 Namibian youth and students to the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students, organised by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY).
The trip took place between 14 to 21 October.
I will not forget the stringent process involved in obtaining a visa from the Russian diplomatic mission here in Klein Windhoek, which was worsened by the fact that the embassy was dealing with so many people.
