… Monique shares passion for animal anti-cruelty
MONIQUE Redecker (MR) grew up surrounded by animals, and knew from a very young age that she wanted to protect them. The mother of one now has a fulfilling career as the chief executive officer of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Windhoek. The SPCA is a non-profit organisation, helping animals in need. Its main aim is to protect and prevent animal cruelty. Cruelty against animals has been on the increase in recent times and the SPCA plays a pivotal role in rescuing and assisting animals that are maltreated, abandoned and abused. In an interview with Confidente’s Marianne Nghidengwa (MN) this week, Monique spoke in detail about the SPCA’s role, as well as recent cases of animal cruelty that has shocked many. As SPCA CEO, Monique enjoys playing an important role in educating communities countrywide about caring for animals. At home, her fury family members include two cats and five dogs.
