… Shelves air hostess dream to start own agency
AS a high school learner, Imelda Kuhanga (IK) aspired to be an air hostess. After completing matric, however, she put her dreams on hold, when she had to look for employment to care for her grandmother and siblings. She worked as a cleaner and later as a cashier at a service station, to make ends meet.
After working at Monitronic Success College in Windhoek, where she was exposed to people from different backgrounds, she rekindled her love for the aviation field. Although she could no longer become an air hostess, she approached Trip Travel Agency for employment, where she learnt that she could start her own company. Today, Imelda is the proud founder of BIA Travel Agency. The company offers various services, including air and bus tickets, airport and city transfers, accommodation reservations, visa services and travel insurance.
In an interview with Confidente’s Marianne Nghidengwa (MN), Imelda talks about her long journey to success.
