… Impressions of Etosha, during the inauguration of an anti-poaching patrol camp
By Eliaser Ndeyanale
ON 2 November, a group of nine journalists travelled to the Etosha National Park, after being invited by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to cover the inauguration of the Yahoo Japan anti-poaching patrol camp.
The ministry, through the Protected Areas System Strengthening (PASS) Project, and with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), received a donation of five million Japanese Yen (approximately N$639 721) from Yahoo Japan Corporation, to construct an anti-poaching patrol camp at Skerpioenbult (Scorpion Ridge), in the Etosha National Park.
The construction of the camp was finalised and the inauguration took place on 4 November.
The travelling journalists left on 2 November for Etosha. We travelled from Windhoek and returned to the capital city on 5 November.
