THE 2017 Africa Country Benchmark Report (ACBR) has ranked Namibia as the 8th most technologically advanced country in Africa, with an ACBR tech score of 38.74.
The report ranks Seychelles first (51.92), South Africa second (48.61), Mauritius third (45.17), Cape Verde fourth (44.89), Tunisia fifth (43.97), Swaziland sixth (40.00), Egypt seventh (39.13) and Botswana (37.79) and Morocco (37.56) ninth and tenth, respectively.
“African countries have a long road to travel to advance to the level of technological capacity common in the developed world. However, some African countries are making strides to boost their communications infrastructure, establish ‘technology parks’ and increase spending on research and development,” the report said
