THE Goethe-Institut Namibia, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and other partners celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development last Friday, under the theme ‘Science for a Global Understanding’.
In a keynote address, read on her behalf at the celebration, Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, noted the importance of education for the development of any society and the value of science.
“Science, in particular, is an enabler of development and provides our learners with skills that prepare them for the world. Events such as this not only capacitate the learners, but also the teachers, giving them a broader perspective on teaching science,” she said.
Hanse-Himarwa also expressed appreciation and congratulated the partners for making Science Week 2017 possible.
