… Women’s indoor hockey squad battle hardened in Cape Town
By John Tuerijama
TO ensure that the national women’s indoor hockey team is battle-hardened, ahead of their participation in the 2018 Women’s Indoor Hockey World Cup, scheduled for 7 to 11 February in Berlin, the team will leave for Cape Town on Monday.
The team’s conditioning and mental fitness coach Manuel Carballo told Confidente this week that they will compete in the Pro Series Indoor (PSI) competition in Cape Town, against provincial under-18 men’s teams.
Carballo said that it is important for the national women’s team to be exposed to more strenuous competition, if they are to reach the required fitness levels.
“We have been having our girls playing their national under-18 and senior men counterparts, which helped to improve their physicality and strength,” said Carballo.
