THE ‘Museum Development as a Tool for Strengthening Cultural Rights in Namibia’ project was officially launched on Monday by the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Namibia, Jana Hybaskova.
This project will see the Museums Association of Namibia (MAN) receiving €237 025 (N$3 891 437), as well additional funds from the National Arts Council, over a period of two years, to support regional museum development and to build two new museums, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.
“In Europe, we have a tradition that culture belongs to member states, and we Europeans are usually working on technical projects, such as supporting agriculture and education, but only in on few occasions do we support culture,” Hybaskova said.
