IN tough economic times, intelligent shopping and clever budget management is vital. Finding innovative ways to stretch your wallet when shopping – be it for the bare necessities or little treats – gives you more room in your budget or saving for the future.
Take advantage of any loyalty schemes that you belong to, or sign up for a rewards programme offered at places where you regularly shop, to start earning rewards. The rewards you accumulate could allow you to pay less, if you pay using your free rewards benefits, rather than spending your cash or dipping into savings.
Before you sign up for a rewards programme, evaluate how easy it will be for you to earn rewards. For example, FNB customers earn cash back rewards, by doing things like swiping their qualifying FNB cards when shopping, filling up for fuel with their credit card or when purchasing airtime using any of FNB’s banking channels.
“Some programmes only allow customers to spend in the same environment in which the rewards were earned, while others, such as FNB Rewards, allow members to purchase everyday essentials, such as fuel and airtime. Cash rewards will be paid into a linked Savings Pocket for customers to use whenever, and on whatever they please. This means you are rewarded each time you perform one of the qualifying transactions”, says Ryno Holland -Muter, Rewards Manager at FNB Namibia.
About FNB Rewards
FNB Rewards enables customers to earn cash back for doing everyday things like purchasing airtime on cellphone banking, online banking or using the banking app; filling up with fuel with an FNB credit card, and spending with a debit or credit card.
The reward programme is applicable to all FNB customers, who have a qualifying and active lifestyle account, and whose accounts are in good standing. There are seven possible goals which customers can aspire to, in order to reach the next reward level. These include going digital on all statements, using the FNB App, transacting on FNB Debit and Credit Card; growing their savings balance, having an Investment Account, a personal loan and/ or a home loan. If all the criteria are met, customers will achieve level seven of the reward programme and are then rewarded with cash back on a variety of transactions, such as paying for fuel with the credit card, purchasing groceries with the debit card and paying for prepaid airtime.
FNB Namibia will reward customers with up to 10 percent on fuel purchases with a credit card, up to 0.025 percent on their debit card spend, up to 2.25 percent on their credit card spend and up to 10 percent on prepaid airtime purchases.
