ADVOCATE Bience Gawanas, is the first woman and Namibian to become the UN Special Advisor on Africa, after UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, announced her appointment to the global body this week.
Gawanas said that her rise to the UN is an achievement for Namibia and Africa.
“It is a plus for Namibia, because I’m the first woman to take up the post, since the establishment of that office. I always say that obviously I am there to serve the African Union (AU), to serve the United Nations and Africa, but people should never take away the fact that I am Namibian.
