… Former coach says president needs to motivate team at CHAN finals
By John Tuerijama
FORMER Brave Warriors head coach Rusten Mogane says that the Brave Warriors need the highest motivation in Morocco, when the boys open their campaign against Ivory Coast on Sunday at their first-ever African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, and has urged President Hage Geingob himself to attend the match.
Namibia is pitted in Group B against Ivory Coast, Uganda and Zambia, with the Brave Warriors being dubbed as the underdogs of the group.
Although head coach Ricardo Mannetti is on record having said that their objective is to progress beyond the group stages, the Warriors will face Uganda on the 18 January and Zambia on 22 January, in what is likely to be the group of death at the 2018 edition of the tournament.
Talking to Confidente this week, Mogane said that it is important for the national team to be supported by the highest echelons of the government, and that Geingob will be able to give the players that much-needed morale and psychological boost.
