… As NSC pushes for regional champs across the country
By John Tuerijama
THE Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) is set to embark on regional visits later this month, during which it will engage sport officers and governors about staging regional athletic championships, as a matter of urgency, which will be used to identify raw and untapped talent across the nation.
In an interview with Confidente this week NSC Chief Administrator, Freddy Mwiya, said that the decision to visit the country’s 14 political regions, was taken in order to sensitise both the sport officers and the respective governors, about organising regional athletic events that will culminate in the first-ever Namibia National Under-20 Youth Games, which will take place in the capital in May.
The national team which will compete at the 2018 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games, slated for Gaborone in Botswana in December, will be chosen at the May spectacle.
