… As beef export deal implementation stalls
By Hilary Mare
CHINESE Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Qu Dongyu, led a delegation from his ministry to Namibia last week, where he met with Meatco officials, amid the stalling of the implementation of an agreement, following a review process, which will eventually see Namibia export beef to China.
The delegation that toured Meatco’s Windhoek abattoir was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Zhang Yiming, and Ministry of Agriculture Water and Forestry Permanent Secretary, Percy Misika, who also formed part of the discussions with Meatco executives Vehaka Tjimune, Cyprianus Khaiseb, Rosa Katjivena and Jannie Breytenbach.
