… Coach committed to Namibia, despite ‘rumours’ of foreign offers
By John Tuerijama
COACH Ricardo Mannetti, who has just returned from Morocco, after leading the Brave Warriors to a commendable quarterfinal berth at the African Nations Championship (CHAN), has committed himself to seeing out the rest of his contract with the senior national football team, despite rumours swirling that he may be snapped up by a leading South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) club.
Confidente can exclusively reveal that PSL side Bidvest Wits FC is among those who had put out their feelers towards signing Mannetti as an assistant coach, after he mentored the Brave Warriors into their quarterfinal clash with host nation Morocco, which they lost 2-0 after some dubious refereeing decisions.
The coach himself refused to be drawn into naming the club or clubs that have shown an interest in him.
Mannetti, who signed his new contract with Brave Warriors in 2015, also led his side to the Cosafa Cup crown in the same year.
His contract expires in July next year.
