NAMCOL director Heroldt Murangi has called on parents to continue supporting their children by prioritising the education of their children as primary educators.
Murangi made these remarks during the prize-giving ceremony for Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC) and Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSCO) best achievers held at Yetu Yama Namcol Centre in Windhoek.
The ceremony saw over 100 students being awarded for their amazing performances in the 2017 JSC and the NSSCO examinations. The prize money ranged from N$600 to N$14 000.
Murangi also commended companies and businesses that have joined hands with Namcol to reward learners with prizes for best performance, adding that it is a positive sign of sharing the collective responsibility of education.
“With initiatives such as this, we can only move higher on the ladder of success in addressing the education challenges of our times. I would like comment you for coming on board,” he said.
He urged learners to work hard while telling them that the future of the country lies in their hands.
“Whatever happens, never give up! You have the choice to follow a career of your choice once your studies are over; being an architect, doctor or business owner is your choice.
“No matter your circumstances, no matter your environment, no matter what challenges you face, you can steer yourself to self-achievement and accomplishment.
