Furniture at the home were funded by German Embassy in Namibia through its micro-project fund and the new facility was inaugurated recently in the presence of German officials, representatives of the
Germany NGO Pallium as well the children home’s founder Rosa Namises.
The Dolam Children’s Home was founded by Namises in 1999. She started off by providing shelter to orphans and vulnerable children, using her own house for that purpose.
According to a press statement, the embassy the newly-built children’s home will provide more privacy and study space as well as a larger recreational area.
The home will also accommodate a larger number of orphans and vulnerable children and has enough open areas to expand the existing buildings in the future. It is further expected that this will enable further intake of children and for the envisioned future project for abandoned, orphaned and sick babies.
