CELEBRITIES have the opportunity to use their inconsistent and sometimes unexplainable fame to pass along good values, priorities and ethical habits to those who admire and follow them.
In the US for example, celebrity cultures current values are in a scrambled state, with virtues sometimes being treated as embarrassments, and the enthusiastic embrace of non-ethical goals are now often looked upon as the norm, and even appropriate.
When Lady May says “Good night Mother F*ckers” on stage, does it make her a bad person? Maybe she was overly excited, or maybe she was under the influence of an unknown substance. Bottom line is that she behaved badly regardless of her status.
But if she was in the USA, her derogatory terms would probably be praised.
You see, famous people can become ‘intoxicated’ by the power and prestige that comes with their celebrity status. People fall for them, personal assistants and other attendants jump to their every command, so it is no secret that they feel untouchable.
This extraordinary power leads them to believe that they are truly special and that the rules that apply to everyone else simply do not apply to them as they tend to forget that they too are humans.
The more attention you get the more attention you would want, which goes along with fans, so it becomes very difficult to control people who feel that the rules do not apply to them.
The Dogg is another example of a celebrity who may come off as arrogant and rude. But come to think of it, The Dogg has been in the entertainment industry ever since high school and has been praised for close to two decades.
His tweeter rants, Facebook insults and public demeanor seem to have come to a complete halt; maybe it is because he wants his upcoming final concert to be a success.
It could also be that the antidote for bad behavior is humility. Celebrities need to realize that the power they possess and the attention they receive does not put them above following the law or societal standards.
Many powerful and famous individuals do not become intoxicated by power, because they maintain a sense of humility, they keep their feet on the ground and their heads out of the clouds.
Basically, some of them realize that if it were not for good luck or hard work, they would not be where they are today.
But, times do change and being labeled a bad boy/girl may be fun for now, but when your 40-years-old and have family to take care of, those bad decisions may come back and haunt you later in your life or career.
One example would be the beloved reality TV star Kim Kardashian, who is married to the most controversial artist of our time Kanye West. They have two kids together, but Kim’s past and her rise to fame will definitely play a role when her children grow up and see her pornographic tape with singer Ray-J on the internet.
