DR Sam Nujoma Stadium will most definitely be the place to be on 11 August as a mammoth of local and international artists are set to perform for an estimated crowd of 15 000 people, with a tickets going for N$25.
With 5000 tickets already sold, and about 2500 that will be allocated to invited VIP guest, there are only about 7500 tickets left.
The international roaster includes Davido, Runtown, Jah Prayzah, Heavy K and Busiswa and the local roaster includes a galore of Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) winners namely, Gazza, Kalux, Oteya, KP Illest, Sally Boss Madam, Adora, One Blood, PDK, Afroberries and 4×4 Too Much Power.
The 081Every1 Fest was launched by Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer of MTC, Tim Ekandjo at the Hilton Hotel recently. According to Ekandjo this initiative by MTC is to celebrate 100 percent population coverage, with the proceeds going to the Shack Dweller’s Federation of Namibia (SDFN).
“Namibians just don’t look up to us to make the connection, but they look up to us for entertainment as well, amongst other things. The one common language that everybody speaks is music and the 081Every1 Fest is going to be one of the biggest African music extravaganzas,” explained Ekandjo.
He added that normally a ticket for such an event would cost an average of N$200 but it is N$25 so that everyone can get a chance to enter.
The event is expected to start at 11h00 until 00h00, and Ekandjo stressed the fact that because the event will be in the heart of Katutura, security precautions will be taken into high consideration.
Furthermore, Ekandjo said that this will not be an annual event: “But MTC will keep on giving back to society on a daily basis.”
He then stated that the local artists were chosen on the bass line criteria of either being NAMA winners in 2017 or this year, while taking gender representation into consideration.
Although many Namibians on social media were happy that they would be able to see their favorite Namibian and African acts live in Windhoek, some either raised concern with security risks, while others did not agree with the line-up at all.
All the African acts sent a promotional video, confirming their performance at the 081Every1 Fest, except for
