THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) northern office, has offered its deepest condolences on the loss of Dr Theo Ben Gurirab, encouraging the business community to derive key lessons from Namibia’s late foreign affairs icon.
Speaking to Confidente this week, Tomas Iindji, the chairperson of the northern branch, highlighted that drawing lessons from the life of the late Gurirab could assist Namibia to come out of its economic woes.
“As our country faces intense pressure like other economies, due to the global economic meltdown, we take lessons from Late Dr Theo Ben Gurirab that it is only through unity and working together that we can achieve the prosperous society we seek. Ours is to draw positive lessons and inspiration from his life and continue with the good fight he fought until he took his last breath,” he said.
Conveying the chambers condolences, Iindji noted that the business community in the North has been deeply saddened to learn about his demise.
“Namibia has lost a great leader, a prominent politician, cerebral political leadership and great contributor to national public political discourse. The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Northern Regions (NCCI) expresses sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr Theo Ben Gurirab and wish that they may have the courage to bear this tragic loss. My family joins the Gurirab family in mourning the passing of this indisputably illustrious son of the soil of the motherland – Namibia.
“The sudden passing of Dr. Gurirab is indeed a very painful national loss. The former Speaker was a genuine patriot, a peculiar statesman whose total fixity was predicated on the growth and the development of the Namibian State. He was a gentleman, a thoroughbred, civil, humble but yet radiated and a powerful intellect and diplomat. His death is the end of an era, a sad departure of one of the very significant symbol of those who dedicated their lives to the service of our nation,” added Iindji.
He went on to say that the business community owes God the gratitude for giving the late Dr Theo Gurirab long life, yet, it is unfortunate that he was called to the other side at this time that our nation is in dire need of political direction which the wisdom of the late elder statesman could provide, to make Namibia survive the challenge presently threatening survival as a nation.
“While we know we will miss him, the memories of his deeds are stack in our hearts forever and with these memories, we will honour his legacy for this generation and the next to come as man who played an important role in Namibia and the society at large.
“On behalf of the NCCI Northern Regions Branches and its leadership let me extend our deepest condolences to the family, entire Namibian nation, pioneering business fraternity and the friends of our beloved Dr Theo Ben Gurirab. While we pray that the Almighty God would grant his soul eternal repose, it is our earnest wishes that his family would be strong in this moment of grief to be able to bear this great loss.”
