MTC, in collaboration with the City Police Crime Prevention Unit and the Namibian Police have assured the general public that a complete security plan including sufficient measures are in place ahead of the 081EveryFest set for 11 August 2018 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. The festival is expected to draw a considerable number of music lovers as the line-up includes a galore of A-list local and African acts. The organisers decided to make the safety and security aspect of the event a key priority, this is considering the fact that a ticket is only N$25, which can be an invitation for criminals. According to MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs, Tim Ekandjo, any event of this magnitude requires tight security, an aspect which the organisers will never compromise on. “We want people to come and enjoy without having to worry about their safety nor the security of their vehicles. We are thus looking at having at least four capable local security companies, the City Police Crime Prevention Unit, City Police Traffic Unit to manage and coordinate traffic movement in the vicinity of the stadium, and the Namibian Police Force,” Ekandjo said. He also noted that the show will demystify the myth surrounding security at the Dr. Sam Nujoma Stadium. The stadium gates will be opened as early as 11h00 to facilitate a smooth entrance and avoid crowding at the gates at the last minute. Ekandjo concluded that they are quite excited about the 081EveryFest and equally pleased that the proceeds will be channelled to a good cause.
