NAMIBIAN- based Zimbabwean musician, Artwell ‘Slickartie’ Neusu, is set to jet off to Malawi for the Lake of Stars festival, which is set to be held in Malawi from 28 to 30 September 2018. The festival which doubles as the Malawi Arts Festival, has been running for 15 years and has bragging rights for hosting many African and European musicians, including Freshlyground, ToyaDelazy and Roberto. This year however, the line-up includes European Deejay giant, Major Lazor, who is behind the mega hits like Lean On and Cold Water. Sauti Sol from Kenya is expected to headline the event as well. Other artists to feature at the event include Malawian Faith Mussa and Fredrokiss. Slickartie recently told Confidente that he got invited to perform at this year’s festival and this is exciting because he will be performing alongside other great bands from all over the world. “My performance is strictly dedicated to my Namibian fans that have been supporting me throughout my young career and have helped me raise money for my travelling expenses,” he said. Slickartie added that festival is a big step in any musician’s career. “It opens doors and creates bridges. It helps one sell outside just one country. Lake of Stars is known for having so many people from so many different counties. This festival is going to help me grow and learn from other bands from other African and Europe countries,” he said The three day festival is set to have amazing musical performances and cultural varieties from international, regional and local Malawian artists. It will also offer other performances such as poetry, drama, dance and beach games. The arts extravaganza will take place at the Kabumba Hotel resort, which is a new venue in Salima, just a two hours’ drive from the capital city of Lilongwe. It is located at the foot of the Senga Hills, a stunning site set on a wide expanse of rolling golden sands backed by a lush wooded hillside.
