JALEESA Gaoses, better known by her professional name, Taylor Jaye, is an award winning Namibian- born South Africa based singer, songwriter and actress. Recently, she came back to Namibia to perform at the 081Every1 Fest. In South Africa, she has gone-up and decided to launch an initiative called First Ladies First (#FLFParty). Taylor Jaye said this flagship initiative is dedicated to celebrating the strong sisters and brothers of Africa, who are fighting Gender Based Violence (GBV). The aim is to break free and stay free from all violence plaguing society. “#FLFParty supports women, children and men who have experienced or have been exposed to any form of domestic violence and encourages the culture of reporting violence, self-care, taking responsibility and educating themselves, to stop GBV’s vicious cycle in our society,” she said. She further notes that each Thursday every month of August, she hosts comedians, poets, singers and rappers in Johannesburg to bring awareness, promote communication, honesty and respectfulness in an effort to put an end to GBV. The entertainer has effectively managed to collaborate with South African established female artists that include Shekinah, Nadia Nakai, Moonchild Sanelly, No-monde Sky, DBN Gogo, DjZai Maya, DJ Candii and The Funny Chef, just to mention a few. “ I plan to continue and launch the #FLFParty initiative back in Namibia, by October this year,” she continued. She is also an entrepreneur and recently partnered with the blended whisky producer J&B in Johannesburg as an ambassador and business accelerator with her entertainment company, Jaye’s World Entertainment.
